iFLEX E5 Hirschmann LMI Controller for XCMG Crane – Product Details
The iFLEX E5/1 Load Moment Indicator (LMI) Controller is a high-performance central control unit designed by Hirschmann (WIKA Mobile Control) for XCMG crawler cranes. This 32-bit industrial PLC system serves as the core of the crane’s LMI safety system, monitoring boom length, boom angle, load pressure, and anti-two-block conditions to prevent overload and ensure safe lifting operations.
The iFLEX E5/1 is the standard LMI controller for XCMG QUY series crawler cranes, including QUY220, QUY250, QUY260, QUY280, and QUY300 models.
Compatible XCMG Models
- XCMG QUY220 – Crawler Crane
- XCMG QUY250 – Crawler Crane
- XCMG QUY260 – Crawler Crane
- XCMG QUY280 – Crawler Crane
- XCMG QUY300 – Crawler Crane
Also Compatible With:
- XCMG QUY350, QUY400, QUY650 (iFLEX E5/0101 and E5/0104 variants)

The iFLEX E5 LMI system typically includes:
Part Number References
- 32-Bit Industrial PLC: High-performance processor designed for harsh construction environments
- Modular Design: Base board plus extension board for flexible configuration
- CANbus Networking: Multiple modules can be connected via CAN bus for large control systems
- Weatherproof: IP67 protection against dust and water ingress
- Overload Protection: Warns operator and stops dangerous movements when limits are reached
- Black Box Function: Overload memory and fault self-diagnosis capability
- Multi-Data Display: Shows moment percentage, actual/rated lifting capacity, working radius, boom length, boom angle, max lifting height, and more
Function
The iFLEX E5 LMI system operates on the principle of reference/real comparison. The actual value is compared with calculated reference values and evaluated by the system. When limit values are reached, an overload warning signal is triggered on the display and operating console, and all machine movements that increase the load moment are switched off simultaneously.
Crane-specific data such as load capacity charts, boom weights, centers of gravity, and dimensions are stored in the central data memory. The boom angle is measured by angle sensors mounted on the boom, while the crane load is determined indirectly with the aid of force transducers.
Applications
- XCMG QUY series crawler crane LMI systems
- Crane overload protection and safety control
- Boom length and angle monitoring
- Load moment calculation and display
