XCMG XZ360E Mud Swivel Assembly
The XCMG XZ360E Mud Swivel Assembly is a critical component for the XZ360E Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) rig. It enables the efficient transfer of drilling fluid (mud) from the stationary supply system to the rotating drill string during trenchless underground construction operations . This assembly ensures seamless fluid flow while maintaining rotational integrity under high pressure and torque, making it essential for successful HDD projects .
The XZ360E is a 370kN-class horizontal directional drilling machine powered by a Cummins QSB5.9-C210 engine with 154kW rated power output . It features a maximum torque of 13,200 N·m, a maximum spindle speed of 140 r/min, and a mud pump capacity of 400 L/min at 8 MPa pressure .
Structural Components
The mud swivel assembly consists of the following key components :
Design Features & Engineering
Core Axis & Bearing System
At the heart of the mud swivel lies the Core Axis, a robust shaft supported by an Oil-less Bearing (SF-1 5020) that allows smooth rotation without external lubrication . The oil-less bearing is designed to withstand the abrasive nature of drilling mud while maintaining rotational integrity .
Sealing System
The core axis is sealed with an O-Ring and V-Seal to prevent mud leakage, ensuring efficient fluid transfer and protecting internal components from contamination . The V-Seal conforms to GB/T10708.1 standards, providing reliable sealing performance under high-pressure conditions .
Adjustment & Alignment
An Angle Block and Adjust Tab facilitate precise alignment of the mud swivel with the drill string, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing wear . Baffles inside the swivel direct fluid flow, reducing turbulence and pressure fluctuations .
Structural Integrity
The Cover, secured with Bolts, Spring Washers, and Washers, protects internal parts from contaminants while providing access for maintenance . The use of Spring Washers ensures all fasteners remain tight under vibration, preventing loosening and potential leaks .
Lubrication System
A Zerk fitting (grease nipple) enables periodic greasing of critical components, extending their service life . The core axis and cover are crafted from high-strength steel to resist deformation under demanding drilling conditions .
